“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.”
Albert Einstein (1930)
Shadows of Awe
Can awe-inspiring nature inspire designs that benefit our wellbeing?
'Shadows of Awe' represents shadows of my awe-inspiring experiences of nature.
Through research, reflection and self-discovery, I have found that I am passionate about creating work that benefits others and makes others happy. I am attracted to nature and Biophilic design as a practice that incorporates nature and elements of nature into the modern built environment to advance people's health and wellbeing.
After living through the Pandemic for two years, I noticed how essential nature was for my wellbeing and Mental Health. This has been a driving force behind my research and work.
Through personal reflection, I discovered that my passion lies in Biophilic Design. I am motivated by Awe-inspiring Nature and have found it is what I get the most pleasure from when I travel. Through research and development, I have designed elements of an awe-esque space for others that will positively impact their Mental Health and wellbeing.
(Awe-esque is a term I created to define beneficial design inspired by awe.)
As the world's population continues to grow and more people live in cities, it is essential not to get lost in an urban jungle.

As a Designer, I have used various techniques and disciplines to design Immersive environments. I have explored Light Design, Tactile Textiles, and Surface Pattern Design to develop a bespoke 'Immersive environment' that I hope will invoke an emotional response. I have designed elements of an environment that I hope will connect people back to nature and help them discover the importance and joy of Nature and Awe to promote wellbeing.
Please see the different sections to see how I have developed my work.
